Steel grating, or steel grates, is made of carbon steel or stainless steel. Carbon steel grating, is lighter and cheaper than steel grating, as it material grade is lower than that of stainless steel. Stainless steel grating is smooth at surface, it’s much more expensive than carbon steel grating. Most customers prefer carbon steel grating more than stainless steel grating. Steel grating is made of bearing bar and cross bar, while the cross bar is twisted bar, and it adopts welding or pressure lock for composing.
Regarding on surface treatment, coating, hot-dipped galvanizing and untreated are available for carbon steel grating, in which hot-dipped galvanizing is commonly recommended. For stainless steel grating , it usually doesn’t need any surface treatment as it is smooth and anti-corrosive.
Unlike aluminum grating, steel grating is usually made to stair tread and trench drain, as it is strong enough and it’s heavy to carry as a large one. Steel grating could be fabricated to many shapes and sizes, just according to customers’ requirements. Such diamond grating, I-bar grating, pressure locked grating are all available.
